When an individual is involved in an automobile accident a variety of problems can occur. Sometimes injuries are felt immediately by the individuals involved and the need for immediate care is given. On the contrary, sometimes patients do not experience the symptoms immediately due to the emotional distress and shock caused by automobile accidents. Although the most common injuries suffered in auto accidents are classified as "whiplash" type injuries which are depicted above, auto accidents may result in various injuries including severe trauma such as broken bones or dislocations, mild sprains or strains, or simple joint dysfunction. One of the most common mistakes people make following an accident is not being examined by a qualified health care provider to rule out the possibility of soft tissue damage as a result of the accident. Studies conclude that patients who suffer significant cervical ligament damage as a result of an accident are much more likely to suffer chronic neck pain later in life.
At South Georgia Chiropractic, each patient who has been involved in an automobile accident is examined thoroughly and assessed using state of the art diagnostic imaging tools for any potential soft tissue damage. Following a diagnosis our chiropractors will begin a treatment plan consisting of adjustments, home recommendations, and rehabilitative exercises to expedite the patient's recovery period. Each of our auto accident patients are also thoroughly instructed on home exercise procedures designed to significantly reduce the likelihood of chronic pain following out treatment. We are committed to providing the highest quality conservative treatment options for our patients who have suffered an injury in an automobile accident.
