Mid Back Pain
Mid Back Pain is not as common as pain in other areas of the spine but can be just as annoying. Mid back pain most typically causes discomfort and/or tightness and stiffness in the region between the shoulder blades. The mid back or thoracic spine is much larger than the other two portions (the neck and lower back) but is much less likely to become symptomatic due to how pressure is dispersed in the spine. The most common causes of mid back pain are muscle strains, joint dysfunction, and rib dysfunctions. Mid back pain can vary from a localized pain to pain extending around the rib cage to the front of your body, which could indicate a potentially more serious disorder. The likelihood of soft tissue injuries in the thoracic region is much less than the other portions of the spine, but are also possible especially following a traumatic event.
If you are suffering from mid back pain, the chiropractors at South Georgia Chiropractic will perform a series of neurological, orthopedic, and reflex testing to help narrow the diagnosis to a specific location and cause. Once the cause of dysfunction is determined your doctor will begin the appropriate treatment plan for your diagnosed condition. All treatment options will be discussed with you prior to beginning care. At South Georgia Chiropractic, we establish a treatment plan that is personalized to each patient's specific condition. Current medical literature strongly supports the use of chiropractic therapies for the treatment of most causes of mid back pain. We are committed to providing the highest quality conservative treatment for our patients regarding their care.
